Paper Clay and Pins!

This is what happens when you

fire paper clay with brass drawing pins at 1,100 degrees,

they turn intriguingly blue / black in colour! Definitely worth experimenting more with in the future! I have purchased some 2 inch brass screws to poke through when the clay is wet, hopefully I can attach two layers of paper clay together in layer form.

The segments will be wired together to form a head shaped

structure. I also used kiln wire and tied them up in a knot shape through the clay to resemble barbed wire. I wanted this to be symbolic because mental illness can often be a prickly subject that no one wants to talk about, and also represents the keep out 'bubble' that people suffereing from depression can create for themselves in order to survive!
